What does the “Set Lead Tags” action do?
With the Set Lead Tags automation action, you automatically give matching leads one or more tags – without any manual editing. A lead's existing tags are retained.
Detailed instructions
The action is part of the automations. You define a trigger and optional conditions and then select “Set Lead Tags” as the action to be executed.
- Navigate to Automations > Automations.
- Create a new automation or open an existing one.
- Select a trigger (e.g. on lead creation) and optionally conditions so that only matching leads are tagged.
- Select “Set Lead Tags” as the action.
- Select one or more tags to be set (at least one tag is required).
- Save the automation.
Requirement: The desired tags must already exist in your system so that you can select them.
Further frequently asked questions
Are a lead's existing tags overwritten?
No. The action adds the selected tags without removing existing ones. If a tag is already set, it is not assigned twice.
Can I set several tags at once?
Yes. You can select any number of tags in one action. All selected tags are assigned to the lead.
Why wasn't my lead tagged?
Common reasons: no tag was selected, or the selected tag does not belong to your system. In both cases, the lead is not tagged and a corresponding note is recorded in the lead's log.
Can I build further automations on the setting of a tag?
Yes. You can use a lead's tag as a condition (“Lead Tag”) in further automations and thus control downstream processes.
How do I check whether the tags were set?
The log of the respective lead records how many tags were added. This allows you to trace the execution of the action at any time.
